Raspberry Pi 4 – Initial Configuration

Many of my DIY projects are based off of the Raspberry Pi single-board computer. This post will cover the hardware and steps needed to get the device up and running for the first time.

Required Hardware

• Raspberry Pi – This procedure works for all models
• SD Card
• USB SD Card Reader

Prepare the SD Card

1. Download the software to flash the SD card. I use Balena Etcher
2. Download the Raspberry Pi OS image from www.raspberrypi.org/downloads
3. Flash the Raspberry Pi OS to the SD card using Etcher
